A list of non-human species that your character may be, at least in part.
Half-Breeds
While Half-Breed is a horrible way to refer to one of mixed origins, it is the best way to explain that they are half human/half being. Below is a list of creatures that can be in your character's origins, be it a parent or a distant ancestor. Ask a member of the staff if you have questions about these, or if you'd like to create a character using one of these beings in his or her origins.[/b] Those with giant in their blood tend to be larger and stronger than your typical human. They also tend to have skin that is more spell-resistant, which is certainly a nice bonus when living in a world of spells. Hagrid is an example of a half-giant.
*Goblin: While there are no known examples of half-goblins, it is possible that they exist. They tend to be more clever than their full human brethren, as well as shorter with a darker complexion. They also have longer fingers and toes, and tend to be mischievous and have a love of money, especially gold. However, as there are no examples of these half-beings, there is some leniency in their creation.
*Veela: Veela traits only show up in women. They tend to be more beautiful and charming, and they have a way of ensnaring the minds of those attracted to women. It is possible that, when angered, they turn into a harpy-like creature, although this is unconfirmed. Fleur and Gabrielle Delacour are examples of half-veela women.
*Vampire: Ah, the infamous vampire can have half-breed children as well. While we have no examples of these creatures, they are said to have mild vampiric features, such as elongated fangs and pale skin. They could also potentially have an aversion to sunlight, but wouldn't feel the need to drink anyone's blood. Probably.
*Troll: It's unconfirmed whether or not someone can actually be half troll, and you certainly won't find anyone admitting to it if they are. They would be larger than a full-blooded human, and potentially have an odor about them that is hard to mask. They don't have a giants spell-resistant skin, although they do have similar strength. Non-Humans
There are also beings that are completely non-human. These will also require consent from an admin to create, and there are limitations on what they are able to do.[/b] We all know about werewolves, of course. A werewolf is created when a a werewolf in full transformation during the full moon bites a human, and the saliva mixes with the blood. Once this occurs, it's only a matter of time before the person is forced to confront his or her own werewolf form. They are able to take Wolfsbane, which helps them keep their mind, but there is no way to avoid the transformation. Only witches or wizards can be werewolves, because a muggle will die upon infection. Werewolves are not liked among most civilized company.
*Centaurs" Centaurs live in the forbidden forest. They are half-man, half-horse, although they do not fall under the category of half-breed; it is not the fault of breeding that they are the way they are, and the resent the term when applied to them. These creatures only live in the forbidden forest, although occasionally they will venture into Hogwarts, as in the case of Firenze. However, this makes them an outcast among the herd, and they will not be accepted well back into their ranks. Centaurs are well versed in healing, divination, archery, and astronomy, but are unable to cast magic using a wand.
*House Elves: It's quite obvious that Hogwarts would not be half so magical if not for the elves that keep everything running. House elves are short creatures with large, bat-like ears and disc-like eyes that are able to perform powerful magic without the use of wands, such as apparition. They are known to be fiercely loyal and protective those they've given their allegiance to, and aren't to be taken lightly.[/ul][/blockquote]
If you have any questions about these creatures, or don't see one you'd like to use on this list, go ahead and PM one of the staff, and we'll be glad to speak with you about it.
